Debmarine Namibia requires the services of an Accounts Technician: Assets. The successful incumbent will be responsible for the controlling and administration of all fixed assets processes.

Job Description

THE ACCOUNTS TECHNICIAN ASSETS AT DEBMARINE NAMIBIA:

 

  • Prepares documentation for scrapped items as well as coordinating relevant logistics for disposal of relevant items.
  • Attends Vessel in-ports to facilitate goods and equipment movements ensuring safety and adherence to correct procedures and performs day to day finance functions of ARGIT system to ensure compliance and tracking accuracy.
  • Liaises with Debmarine Namibia’s customs agent to resolve outstanding customs queries relating to ARGITS and follows-up on outstanding customs documentation.
  • Liaises with asset maintenance accountants at the vessels to follow up ARGIT movements to valid shipping manifest to maintain accuracy and procedural correctness.
  • Facilitates and maintains the tagging system of fixed assets to ensure performance, compliance and tracking accuracy co-ordinates the storage of scrapped fixed assets.
  • Executes annual fixed asset verifications for audit/compliance and for tracking accuracy.
  • Coordinates IT equipment refurbishment and/or scrapping process.
  • Conducts monthly Fixed Asset Register (FAR) and monthly reconciliations of fixed asset registers to GL accounts.
  • Generates and captures additions on SAP and initiates monthly journals on SAP as guided by the Assistant Accountant Assets.

Qualifications

CANDIDATE MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:

  • National Diploma in Accounting/Finance
  • Two (2) years’ relevant experience in an accounting environment
  • Knowledge of SAP, FI Module will be an added advantage
