Debmarine Namibia requires the services of a Superintendent: Automation & Instrumentation. The primary purpose of this position is to provide technical production expertise and support the vessel teams and Electrical Engineering, in order to maximize vessel utilization in the area of the specific disciplines: Automation & Information, Communication / Navigation / Marine Systems / Instrumentation.

Job Description

THE SUPERINTENDENT: AUTOMATION & INSTRUMENTATION PERFORMS THE FOLLOWING KEY FUNCTIONS:

  • Recommends and puts in place maintenance approaches / tactics for equipment within area of responsibility to ensure usage efficiency.
  • Implements a maintenance activity plan to ensure usage safety and efficiency.
  • Performs system maintenance including marine vessel and shore-based Infrastructure Instrumentation and Communication, Fire alarm and ROV Systems.
  • Supports maintenance at sea through provision of services, contractors, parts, materials, and management of external services to ensure smooth work execution.
  • Corrects instances where equipment performance does not meet forecasted targets by analysing information, investigating and diagnosing the situation, developing solutions and reviewing and revising maintenance approach to prevent recurrence of problems.
  • Develops, recommends and audits technical standards to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and leading practices.
  • Develops project briefs (formalized scope, resources required and cost) to ensure work alignment and timeous execution.
  • Develops, recommends and maintains the generic work scopes for work at sea and for in ports to ensure alignment and efficiency of execution.
  • Identifies and recommends areas for improvement and equipment replacement to ensure availability and efficient usage.
  • Full line management responsibilities for reporting staff.

Qualifications

DO YOU MEET THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS?

 

  • National Diploma (S4 / T4) in Electronics / Electrical Engineering.
  • Degree in Electronic / Electrical Engineering will be an added advantage.
  • 6 years’ combined experience in marine communication, and navigation and mining process instrumentation systems, with at least 2 years at supervisory level.
