Job Description
UST seeks an experienced and strategic thinker and implementer for the role of Manager: Corporate Strategy. This role is pivotal in driving institutional strategic planning, project management, and performance monitoring to ensure alignment with the university’s long-term objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement frameworks for institutional strategic planning and monitoring, ensuring these processes are robust and aligned with organisational objectives.
- Facilitate strategic planning workshops and stakeholder consultations while coordinating the development and review of corporate and departmental plans.
- Conduct research and strategic data analysis to inform decision-making and centrally coordinate university projects to ensure effective delivery.
- Develop project plans including engagement strategies, communication protocols, change impact assessments, and cost analyses.
- Monitor interdependencies and resource allocation across projects, facilitate monthly progress meetings, and uphold high standards of project reporting.
- Apply the Balanced Scorecard methodology to track organisational performance, monitor and evaluate institutional progress against strategic objectives, and prepare quarterly and annual reports for executive review.
- Drive alignment of departmental strategies with institutional goals.
- Lead business process mapping and re-engineering initiatives.
- Perform any other reasonable responsibilities as assigned by superiors.
Requirements
- A Bachelor (Honours) degree (NQF Level 8) in Strategy, Business Management, Industrial Psychology or a related field.
- Complemented certification in Balanced Scorecard (BSP) or Change Management.
- Eight (8) years’ relevant experience in strategic planning or project management environments of which at least three years must have been in a supervisory role within a Higher Education or a similarly complex organisation.
- A relevant Master’s degree will be an advantage.
- Demonstrate sound knowledge and understanding of the higher education landscape, Integrated Strategic Business Plan (ISBP) reporting requirements, national development plans, and international trends to ensure strategic alignment and global competitiveness.
- Proven experience in strategy formulation, organisational performance tracking, and strong leadership and strategic thinking abilities.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and presentation as well as strong facilitation capabilities.
- High-level project management and organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools such as MS Project is required.
- Knowledge of compliance and governance within publicly funded organisations.
- Strategic agility and decision-making, organisational positioning and problem-solving, effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to inspire and manage diverse teams.
- No prior employment-related disciplinary records or integrity concerns.
- Qualifications must be certified by the Police within the last three (3) months.
- A Police Clearance Certificate (Certificate of Conduct) not older than six (6) months must accompany all applications.
- All foreign qualifications must be validated by the Namibia Qualifications Authority (NQA).
