MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To co-ordinate, direct and supervise activities on projects in order to support site wide activities of the complex Operational units and other facilities at Swakop Uranium (SU).

Key Performance Areas:
- Execute and oversee projects in accordance with the Project Execution Plan and ensure all consultants and contractors are managed effectively.
- Ensure projects is on schedule and budget and where variance exists, establish a plan of action to correct or communicate the variance, and ensure mitigation plans are approved prior to implementation.
- Establish robust project control systems and processes.
- Report progress and forecast progress regularly and transparently using standard earned value practices.
- Ensure the project team follows the proper procurement and contract procedures, while managing the tendering and decision-making process.
- Identify continuous improvement initiatives and develop plans to deliver value savings.
- Manage and lead the project team with regards to project management processes, team developments and annual KRA’s.
- Create and maintain relationships with suppliers and service providers, and serve as a point of contact for matters concerning project related contracts.
- Maintain records of correspondence and documentation in relation to established contracts and those in progress.
- Monitor contracts and move forward with close-out, extensions and / or renewals.
- Conduct on-site project meetings with Contractors, subcontractors, and OEMs.
- Management and supervision of work crews performing tasks on projects.
- Manage the overall safety of active projects and ensure all personnel have resources to perform their work safely.
- Manage capital spend, report variance, and adjust forecasts monthly.
- Report project status and risk to stakeholders and senior leadership.
Requirements
Requirements and experience:
- BSc/BEng or B. Tech in Mechanical, Civil and / or Electrical Engineering. MSc or M.Tech in Engineering will be an advantage
- Minimum 8 years’ Experience in the Mining and Mineral Processing Operations of which 3 years of Supervisory experience in managing and delivering multiple and multifaceted projects (Full Project Cycle).
- Experience in Capital and Project Management.
- Experience in Management of Contractors and Equipment Suppliers.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or related Professional Qualification is an advantage
- Registration with the Engineering Council.
- Valid Code B/BE Driver’s License.
