Job Description

Debt collection and related administration, reconciliations, and requesting of Pod’s and claims.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Process information for statements.
  • Submit relevant documentation to Claims for credit.
  • Continuously request outstanding claims and PODs.
  • Maintain and tick off payments received and update records for reconciliation purposes.
  • Perform ageing of accounts on the system and complete reconciliations.
  • Write receipts and deposit slips, process and conduct banking in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Contact debtors telephonically regarding outstanding payments.
  • Ensure proper record keeping throughout the month for all relevant documentation (invoices, creditors).
  • Ensure invoice collection for statements, print statements, attach relevant documentation, and mail statements.
  • Stamp statements for general accounts where settlement discounts apply, place in envelopes, and mail accordingly.
  • Ensure money received is processed and banked.
  • Receive money from branches via receipts, process, and bank accordingly.
  • Follow up on outstanding payments, PODs, and claims via faxes and emails, and submit required documentation for clarification.
  • Act as relief for other Debtors Clerks when required.
  • Contribute to team efficiency by maintaining high personal performance standards.
  • Perform other relief duties or ad hoc tasks as required by the Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCES & SKILLS:

  • Grade 12 certificate.
  • Fluent in Afrikaans and English.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in debtors, reconciliations, and invoicing.
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with the Proteus system will be a definite advantage.
  • Ability to handle pressure and conflict situations.
  • Self-motivated, demonstrates initiative, and assertive.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
