Model Namibia
About Company
It all started with vegetables.
Before we became a nationwide brand, we were a family with a harvest.
In 1965, local farmers Werner and Hilde List began selling vegetables from their farm, delivering fresh produce around town. That simple act sparked a bigger vision: to create a space where food was not just sold but where freshness was a given and Namibian families could rely on something local, consistent and full of quality.
By 1969, we took full ownership of Model Super Market. From there, we expanded into Swakopmund, Walvis Bay, Tsumeb, growing steadily, becoming part of the daily lives of Namibians. Bringing quality food closer to home.
In 1997, we became Model Pick n Pay and over the next two decades, we grew to 23 stores, employing more than 2,300 Namibians and serving various communities across the country. Yet through every chapter, one truth has remained: our belief that people deserve good food and an experience that turns a quick shop into a memorable joy. Now, almost 60 years later, we return to the name where it all began.
