Position: Communications Practitioner
Department: Marketing & Stakeholder Engagement
Reports to: Manager: Stakeholder Engagement
Purpose of the Position:
To manage and facilitate the internal and external communications for the GIPF, inter alia, implement related policies and strategies in support of the Institutional Strategy, implement processes, procedures, and campaigns for stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- To monitor the media and ensure the consistency of communication relating to the GIPF.
- Liaise with other business units on their integrated communication needs.
- Respond to queries/complaints from members and stakeholders as often as required.
- Manage the GIPF’s intranet in accordance with the communications policy and communications strategy.
- Facilitate the implementation of stakeholder engagement, member education & retention strategy.
- Implement activities of the stakeholder engagement strategy.
- Keep up to date with organisational development in the industry as well as all other relevant developments on national and international level and propose innovations accordingly.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Communication/Journalism/Mass media/Marketing, NQF level 7 with three (3) years’ experience in communications and marketing.
- or A Diploma in communication, journalism, mass media, and Marketing with six (6) years’ experience in a corporate communications environment.
- Registration with any professional communications body will be an added advantage.
- Accredited PR/Marketing Practitioner.
- Knowledge of: Business network, communications methods and techniques, communications theory and program design, cultural differences in Namibia, customer base, influencing and persuasion techniques, management and utilisation of data, organisational selling, social corporate investment, stakeholder communication model, and desktop publishing.
- Skills: Ability to provide feedback, analytical, conceptual ability, conflict resolution, diagnostic, excellent command of the English language, interpersonal, liaison, listening, logical reasoning, negotiation, networking, organising, planning, presentation, process management, and relationship building.
- Attributes: Assertive, approachable, detail-conscious, diligent, diplomatic, emotional intelligence, goal directness, handling pressure, highly ethical, independent thinker, patience, reliable, professional, service-oriented, self-control, and stress management.
