Job Description
To operate under direct control and supervision, to contribute to the Branch’s objectives of profitability, growth and market share by ensuring that all estate administrations are completed professionally and efficiently in terms of the Administration of Estates act, No. 66 of 1965, to the entire satisfaction of the heirs and the Bank.
Are you someone who can:
- Ensure estate administrations are completed efficiently and correctly within the shortest possible time to optimize profitability.
- Interpret Wills and conduct initial interviews with the next-of-kin of the deceased.
- Open and report estates to the Master of the High Court.
- Take control of estate assets and ensure proper safeguarding where required.
- Facilitate realization and transfer of estate assets.
- Identify creditors and ensure payment of valid claims.
- Manage estate securities and other assets in accordance with established procedures.
- Maintain ongoing communication with interested parties, including heirs and beneficiaries.
- Prepare liquidation and distribution accounts.
- Manage all estate-related income tax matters.
- Finalise estates and ensure proper closure of all matters.
- Work closely with the Estates Manager and internal teams to ensure smooth administration processes.
- Continuously assess progress and develop strategies to avoid delays, disputes, or litigation.
- Identify and act on new business opportunities arising from estate administration, including wills and trusts services.
- Provide relevant information to product specialists to support business growth.
- Promote and market the full range of banking and fiduciary products to increase assets under management.
You will be an ideal candidate if you:
- LLB (Bachelor of Laws) will be an added advantage.
- 2–5 years’ experience in fiduciary services, specifically estate administration.
- Strong understanding of the Estates Administration Act of 1965.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrated leadership capability with experience managing or leading a team.
