Senior Engineer: Mechanical – Swakop Uranium

Job Description

To assist the managers with the coordination of Mechanical Engineering activities concerned with design, construction, modification, and commissioning of the Heap Leach Plant’s Construction and Commissioning to ensure effective and efficient project implementation, adherence to standards and procedures, including compliance to SSHER requirements.

 

Key Performance Areas:

  • Assist the Technical Manager in reviewing and approving EPC mechanical design drawings and managing design changes.
  • Support the Quality Manager in reviewing and approving Mechanical Quality Control Packs and managing quality control processes.
  • Oversee and coordinate EPC on-site mechanical installation activities.
  • Conduct daily inspections of construction progress across all areas and ensure resources align with project requirements.
  • Assist the Safety Manager and Quality Manager in conducting regional and specialised inspections.
  • Enforce and control all Change Management processes strictly.
  • Ensure all As-Built Drawings and technical documentation are properly received, archived, stored, and made available for future reference.

Requirements and experience:

  • BSc, BEng, or BTech in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in construction projects, with at least 2 years in a senior capacity.
  • Experience in mining, processing, or large-scale construction projects will be an advantage.
  • Strong track record in contract and contractor coordination.
  • Experience in risk management and compliance with engineering codes.
  • Proficiency in mechanical engineering software such as AutoCAD or equivalent.
  • Registration with the Engineering Council of Namibia or equivalent professional body is an advantage.
  • Valid Code B, BE, or CE driver’s license.
