VACANCY: KOMATSU HD465 RIGID DUMP TRUCK OPERATOR

Company Overview

Unitrans Mining has exciting opportunities for experienced Komatsu HD465 Rigid Dump Truck Operators to join its operation at Hope & Gorob Mine, Namibia.

The successful candidates will be responsible for the safe and efficient hauling and transportation of materials within the mining operation.

Role Purpose

The Komatsu HD465 Rigid Dump Truck Operator will be responsible for safely operating rigid dump trucks to transport mined or processed materials between loading, dumping, stockpile, and processing areas.

The role requires safe driving practices, equipment care, and accurate completion of operational records.

Key Responsibilities

1. Dump Truck Operation

• Safely operate the Komatsu HD465 Rigid Dump Truck
• Transport materials between designated loading, dumping, and stockpile areas
• Follow haul road rules, speed limits, and site traffic management procedures
• Operate equipment efficiently to support production requirements

2. Inspections & Reporting

• Conduct daily pre-start inspections before operating the machine
• Report mechanical defects, tyre damage, unsafe conditions, or breakdowns timeously
• Maintain accurate trip sheets, inspection records, and other required documentation

3. Safety & Compliance

• Adhere strictly to company policies, procedures, safety regulations, and site rules
• Maintain safe operating distances and follow all traffic control instructions
• Operate machinery responsibly to prevent incidents, injuries, and equipment damage

4. Housekeeping & Equipment Care

• Maintain good housekeeping of the truck cab and work area
• Keep assigned equipment clean, safe, and ready for operation
• Report spillages, unsafe road conditions, or operational hazards immediately

5. Operational Support

• Assist with ad hoc operational duties when required
• Support supervisors and production teams in meeting site objectives
• Be willing to work shifts, weekends, overtime, and public holidays when required

Minimum Requirements

• Namibian ID
• Grade 12 or NQF Level 4
• Valid Code 14 driver’s license will be advantageous or required where applicable
• Valid competency certificate for Komatsu HD465 Rigid Dump Truck or relevant rigid dump truck equipment
• Minimum of 2–3 years’ proven rigid dump truck operating experience in a mining environment

• Must have sober habits
• Must be willing to work shifts, weekends, overtime, and public holidays

• Strong rigid dump truck operating skills
• Good understanding of haul road safety and site traffic procedures
• Ability to complete trip sheets and inspection records accurately
• Reliable, alert, and safety conscious
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work under pressure in a production environment
