Vacancy: Linux Systems Administrator C5

Employer: MTC, Namibia’s leading telecommunications company Reports to: Senior Linux Systems Administrator

Job Competencies

  • Administer, maintain, and support Linux-based systems, servers, cloud, virtual, and physical infrastructure ensuring stability, security, and performance.
  • Excellent knowledge of Linux-based operating systems.
  • Knowledge of system and server security, enterprise backup and recovery.
  • Skills in systems engineering, operations, and performance analysis.
  • Sound knowledge of digital and analog embedded computer hardware.
  • Knowledge of computing infrastructures.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for complex software and hardware problems.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective time management in complex environments.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to support non-technical individuals in resolving technical issues.

Qualifications and Personal Competencies

  • Bachelor’s Degree in IT, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Linux Essentials/Oracle Linux: 7 System Administration Ed 1 (required).
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in related field.
  • Experience in IT environments with system/server installation, monitoring, backup, and administration.
  • Experience in performance tuning and optimisation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Intermediate).
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, under pressure, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Valid driver’s licence.
  • Namibian citizenship or permanent residency required.
