Job Summary
The Freight Coordinator will be responsible for Customs clearing, forwarding and overseeing the transportation and logistics of freight related to our operations, ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of goods and materials to various locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate freight shipments, including scheduling pickups and deliveries, and arranging transportation methods (e.g., trucking, rail, air, ocean).
- Reviewing Commercial Invoices for completeness, consistency, and making sure it aligns with NamRA guidelines.
- Group identical or related products (e.g., same HS code, material, or origin) to streamline declarations.
- Classification of commodity codes by applying the correct Harmonized System (HS) codes to products based on their description, composition and intended use.
- Identifying misclassified items to avoid penalties and shipment delays.
- Draft, Check and Submit entries on Asyuda (mainly Im4, Im5, Im7, Im8, Ex1, Ex2, Ex3, Local Supplies and Backlog).
- Communicate with carriers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely delivery of goods.
- Track shipments and update internal systems with relevant information.
- Resolve any issues or delays in freight transportation, including handling customs clearance and documentation requirements.
- Monitor transportation costs and identify opportunities for cost optimization.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as procurement and operations, to coordinate logistics activities effectively.
- Ensure compliance with international shipping regulations and customs procedures.
Requirements
- Grade 12
- Two (2) years’ working experience as a freight coordinator.
- Valid code B driver’s licence.
- Valid PDP will be an advantage.
- Working knowledge of Asyuda.
- Proficiency in MS Office to at least an intermediate level.
- Knowledge of international shipping regulations, customs procedures, and trade compliance.
- Familiarity with ISO standards and procedures related to freight transportation and logistics is preferred.
