Job Summary

The Engineer Operations will report directly to the Executive Manager Technical Services and is responsible for the Operations and Control of Oshakati Premier Electric’s (OPE’s) Distribution Network, Bulk Solar PV Plant and Solar PV Rooftop Systems. Key responsibilities include Day-Ahead Market Energy Trading on the MSB Market and implementation of the Namibia Electricity Safety Code (NESC) / Operating Regulations for High Voltage Systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Development, Implementation, Operation and Maintenance of Bulk Solar PV Plants
  • Day-Ahead Market Energy Trading on the MSB Market
  • Development, Implementation, Operation and Maintenance of Solar PV Rooftop Systems
  • Operation and Control of OPE’s Distribution Network
  • Implementation of NESC
  • Quality of Service Monitoring and Reporting
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Satisfaction
  • Project Management
  • Budgeting and Financial Management
  • Training and Professional Development of OPE Operational Staff

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Electrical) or Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical), NQF Level 8; or Bachelor of Technology (Electrical), NQF Level 7
  • A minimum of four (4) years post-qualification experience in an Electricity Distribution and Supply Environment for B.Sc. Eng / B.Eng
  • A minimum of five (5) years post-qualification experience in an Electricity Distribution and Supply Environment for B.Tech
  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience
  • Registration as a Professional or Incorporated Engineer (Pr.Eng or Inc.Eng) with the Engineering Council of Namibia (Added Advantage)
  • PMP Certification (Added Advantage)
  • Experience in Electricity Distribution and Supply (Added Advantage)
  • Experience in Energy Forecasting, Simulation, Operations and Maintenance of Bulk Solar PV Plants (Added Advantage)
  • Solar PV Installation Training Certification, i.e., PV Green Card or equivalent (Added Advantage)
  • Code B/BE Driver’s License
  • Renewable Energy Knowledge
