Overall Purpose of Position

Plant Cleaners are responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and housekeeping across designated processing plant areas. The role supports safe and efficient plant operations by removing spillages and waste, cleaning equipment and work areas, and ensuring walkways and operational areas remain clean, orderly, and free of hazards.

Main Responsibilities

The incumbent will be responsible for duties including, but not limited to the following:

  • Perform routine cleaning and housekeeping in designated processing plant areas.
  • Remove spillages, waste, debris, and accumulated material from work areas and walkways.
  • Clean plant equipment and surrounding areas in accordance with operational and safety instructions.
  • Keep access routes, platforms, floors, and work areas clean and free of avoidable hazards.
  • Report unsafe conditions, spillages, equipment abnormalities, or environmental concerns to the responsible supervisor.
  • Follow all site safety, environmental, PPE, and housekeeping procedures and work shifts as required.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience Requirements

  • Grade 10/12 or equivalent.
  • Previous cleaning or housekeeping experience in a processing plant, mining, construction, or heavy industrial environment is advantageous.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding cleaning and housekeeping duties in an operational environment.
  • Good understanding of basic workplace safety and housekeeping practices.
  • Physical fitness and willingness to work shifts are essential.
  • Reliable, safety-conscious, and able to follow instructions and site procedures.
