Role Purpose

Clear Sun Contracting Services Namibia (Pty) Ltd is seeking an experienced and suitably certified Excavator Operator to support excavation and material-handling activities within its Lower Orange River mining operations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of excavators during mining, excavation, loading, stripping, trenching and general material-handling activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate Excavators in accordance with site operating procedures and Mine Health & Safety requirements.
  • Excavate gravel, soil, overburden and other mining material as directed.
  • Load Dump Trucks, ADTs, Tippers and other haulage equipment.
  • Perform stripping, trenching, stockpile management and general excavation activities.
  • Maintain safe working benches, excavation areas and loading positions.
  • Conduct daily pre-start inspections and routine equipment safety checks.
  • Identify and report equipment defects, damage and maintenance requirements promptly.
  • Operate safely around personnel, vehicles and other heavy equipment.
  • Follow supervisor instructions, excavation plans and operational requirements.
  • Apply correct operating techniques to minimise unnecessary wear or damage to equipment.
  • Assist in achieving production, excavation and material-movement targets.
  • Maintain required operational and inspection records where applicable.
  • Comply with all Mine Health & Safety, environmental and operational procedures.

Minimum Requirements

  • Valid Excavator Operator Certificate.
  • Minimum 5 years proven experience operating Excavators, preferably within a mining, earthmoving, construction or similar heavy industrial environment.
  • A valid Police Clearance Certificate not older than six (6) months.
  • Demonstrated experience in excavation, loading and bulk-material handling.
  • Ability to safely load haulage equipment.
  • Good knowledge of excavation safety, working areas and equipment operating limits.
  • Ability to conduct pre-start inspections and identify equipment defects.
  • Strong equipment control and spatial awareness.
  • Reliable, safety-conscious and capable of working effectively within an operational mining team.

Working Conditions

  • Position is site-based within a remote mining environment.
  • Shift work and extended operational hours may be required.
  • Candidates must be comfortable operating heavy equipment under demanding mining conditions.
  • Candidates must comply with all site safety, operational and environmental requirements.
