Job Description:
To apply established accounting principles and practices in monitoring, recording, and reporting financial transactions for the business unit. This job ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial statements in compliance with legal and regulatory standards, including International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and provides expert financial insights to support sound business decisions and investment planning.
Are you someone who can:
- Develop and periodically revise financial plans to project income and costs accurately
- Forecast, manage, and optimise financial resources to ensure expenditure aligns with approved budgets
- Analyse financial transactions and statements against budget and forecasts to identify variances and potential weak areas
- Report financial performance, risks, and corrective recommendations to the CEO
- Identify, control, and escalate potential financial risks that may lead to increased costs
- Ensure comprehensive risk assessments are conducted through detailed financial analysis
- Implement, monitor, and measure effective remedies to mitigate identified risks
- Conduct taxation planning in line with current legislation to minimise tax liability
- Maintain expert knowledge of legislative amendments and industry best practices
- Provide proactive financial advice and solutions to relevant stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with governance, legislative, and audit requirements
- Continuously review accounting packs to ensure consistent accounting treatment in line with GAAP
- Implement, benchmark, and improve business processes within the area of responsibility (e.g. costing models, G/L returns, VAT processes)
- Ensure accurate financial journal entries are uploaded to the General Ledger
- Maintain Accounts Payable by ensuring complete and accurate records of all payments
- Prepare and manage documentation requiring CEO attention, including analytical reports and feedback
- Improve business decision-making by providing accurate, reliable business intelligence through trend and data analysis
- Support the development of employees and managers on company policies, budgeting principles, and financial controls
- Ensure assessment and development of critical financial and management skills
- Actively manage own professional development to enhance competencies and effectiveness
You will be an ideal candidate if you:
- Have a degree in Accounting or Financial Management
- Have 3-5 years in a similar environment of which 1-2 years ideally at a senior specialist level
- Have 3 years of completed articles and management accounting experience
- Have financial services experience
- Have experience with accounting software i.e. CaseWare, HFM
- Are a strong communicator
- Able to work independently and solve for solutions
- Are agile and able to juggle ad hoc work requests
- Can plan ahead and collaborate with a team
