Role Overview:

To maintain and grow the Commercial banking segment’s deposit book and optimize the product portfolio in order to match market conditions, client needs and regulatory expectations.

Are you someone who can:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive liabilities strategy that aligns with the Segment’s growth and profitability goals.
  • Prepare and present regular performance reports and strategic insights to senior management.
  • Conduct market anaysis to identify trends, opportunities and potential risks, ensuring strategies remain relevant and impactful.
  • Maintain and grow net interest income per target as set for the year.  Drive an increase in average balances in line with the segment’s strategy.
  • Manage early redemptions to minimise penalties and losses to the business and group.
  • Manage, retain and grow the portfolio of customers by providing innovative cash investment solutions.
  • Structure solutions across the product continuum, including on and off-balance sheet.
  • Understand clients’ Treasury management functions and capabilities, creating operational efficiencies by offering functionality that solves for client needs.
  • Manage the portfolio of customers, provide regular engagement, proactively managing deposits as market and related industry conditions change and provide service excellence to gain majority share of wallet.
  • Collaborate with the Relationship management team to optimize cross-selling opportunities and deepen client relationships.
  • Collaborate effectively with both internal and stakeholders to align deposit strategies to organisational priorities.
  • Ensure strategies and initiatives comply with regulatory requirements and the segment’s risk management framework.

You will be an ideal candidate if you:

  • Are a holder of a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance / Economics
  • A MSc in Finance / Investment / Economics) will be an added advantage
  • Have 4 to 5 years of experience in a similar environment, of which 2 to 3 years at management level with direct reports within financial services
  • The ability to analyse complex data sets
  • Have experience in treasury management (liquidity and cash flow)
  • Industry, sector knowledge
  • Have experience in driving pricing strategies and optimizing balance sheets
  • Have an FAIS – RE 5 (FSCA) certification
