Purpose of the Position The Clearing and Forwarding Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all clearing and forwarding activities to ensure efficient cargo movement, regulatory compliance, and timely documentation. This role requires strong operational oversight, leadership, and stakeholder coordination to support seamless freight processing and high service standards.

Key Responsibilities

Clearing & Forwarding Operations

  • Oversee daily operations related to the clearing and forwarding of shipments.

  • Coordinate with customs officials and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.

  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of bills of lading, shipping documents, manifests, permits, and other required paperwork.

  • Troubleshoot operational issues to prevent delays and maintain cargo flow efficiency.

Team Leadership & Supervision

  • Supervise a team of clerks or junior staff involved in documentation and shipment tracking.

  • Provide guidance, support, and training to maintain operational accuracy and productivity.

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Maintain relationships with shipping lines, transporters, port authorities, and clients to ensure smooth operations.

  • Communicate proactively with stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure customer satisfaction.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting

  • Monitor key performance indicators and prepare operational reports.

  • Recommend process improvements to enhance turnaround time, service delivery, and compliance.

Required Characteristics

  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.

  • Able to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks effectively.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum Grade 12.

  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory or managerial experience in a port or logistics environment.

  • Degree or Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field will be an added advantage.

  • Valid Code B (08) Driver’s License.

  • Police Clearance Certificate (not older than 6 months).
