Job Description

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

Check and control the receiving, storing and issuing tasks of storage personnel to ensure compliance with company rules and guidelines for storing and issuing fresh and frozen fish products.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Receive finished products from the factory.
  • Ensure all finished products are packed according to specifications (e.g. temperature, product codes, production and “best before” dates, labels, etc.).
  • Ensure products are stored in an orderly manner to optimise storage space and adhere to the “First In First Out (FIFO)” principle.
  • Ensure trucks and containers are loaded accurately, to optimal capacity, and within required timeframes (20 ft in 1.5 hours; 40 ft in 2–3 hours), and sealed immediately after loading.
  • Monitor subordinates’ productivity and ensure overtime is kept to a minimum.
  • Assist the Supervisor: Cold Storage with monthly stock counts and daily stock control.
  • Ensure specific contract products are packed on designated pallets.
  • Adhere to all relevant HACCP regulations.

Minimum Qualification & Experience Requirement:

  • Grade 12 (with pass marks in English and Mathematics).
  • Certificate/Diploma in storekeeping or warehousing disciplines is an added advantage.
  • At least 3 years’ experience as a storekeeper/warehousing, preferably in a cold store environment.
  • Sound knowledge of SAP.
