ELECTRICIAN: ELECTRICAL INFRASTRUCTURE
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To execute all installations, medium and low voltage maintenance and repairs
on electrical systems and components in a variety of infrastructure projects
such as transportation networks, utility systems, building and communication
networks. The position reports directly to the Supervisor: Electrical
Infrastructure.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
▪ Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems in full compliance with
relevant safety codes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
▪ Promptly troubleshoot and accurately diagnose electrical faults to ensure
efficient resolution and minimal operational downtime.
VACANCY
▪ Conduct scheduled inspections and implement preventive maintenance measures to
ensure optimal performance and longevity of electrical systems.
▪ Effectively prioritize, plan, and manage tasks and projects to meet established
deadlines and operational objectives.
▪ Maintain strict adherence to occupational health and safety protocols, regulatory
standards, and company policies to promote a safe and compliant
work environment.
▪ Collaborate effectively with colleagues, contractors, and other trades to ensure
smooth execution and completion of projects.
▪ Participate in emergency response operations, ensuring the swift restoration
of electrical services during unplanned outages or service disruptions.
▪ Provide timely and effective solutions to electrical problems, ensuring
minimal interruption to business operations.
▪ Stay updated with industry developments, technological innovations, and
best practices to enhance technical knowledge and service delivery.
▪ Execute any additional duties as assigned by Namport, including standby responsibilities
and tasks at any of Namport’s port facilities, as operationally
required.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
▪ Grade 12 with a National Vocational Certificate Level 3 or equivalent [NQF Level 3]
in the Electrical field.
▪ A minimum of 4 (four) years relevant experience, of which 2 (two) years
should have been within a medium voltage environment.
▪ High Voltage Switchgear and Transformer Certification or Low & Medium
Voltage Certification is an added advantage.
▪ Must possess a code BE driver’s license.
▪ Proven ability to work independently with strong technical proficiency and
a proactive, results-driven approach.
▪ Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting, diagnostics, and analytical
problem-solving within electrical systems.
▪ In-depth knowledge of electrical wiring techniques, components, and system configurations.
▪ Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and
manage multiple work queues effectively.
▪ Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey
technical information clearly and professionally.
▪ A collaborative team player with the ability to work effectively in
cross-functional environments.
▪ Solid understanding of and adherence to electrical codes, safety
regulations, and industry standards.
▪ Code BE driver’s License.
▪ Must be a Namibian Citizen.
