MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To plan and coordinate activities concerned with design, construction, modification, and maintenance of the plant to ensure effective and efficient maintenance of all mechanical equipment to achieve production targets, at maximum workshop availability and optimum cost, including adherence to SSHER requirements.

Key Performance Areas:
- Enforce and implement legal and procedural compliance and ensure Statutory and general governances in area of responsibility.
- Implement system and procedural improvements.
- Produce contingency plans and remedial actions to minimize short, medium and long-term risks.
- Participate in regular audits to ensure compliance as per legislation and internal procedures and policies.
- Draw up operational project objectives, by means of project proposals and plans, and conferring with management.
- Implement systems and procedures where required to ensure the efficient execution of the project.
- Produce contingency plans and remedial actions to minimize operational and technical risks.
- Determine project specifications, by studying designs/drawings, customer requirements and performance standards, completing technical studies and prepare cost estimates.
- Collaborate with various departments to maintain mechanical integrity of all plant equipment.
- Ensure that the plant equipment is maintained and working as per OEM’s specifications.
- Coordinate work performed by outside contractors, vendors, and engineering consultants.
- Identify downtime root causes and implement preventative maintenance programs to eliminate downtime causes, in order to achieve the required plant availability and reliability.
- Monitor and quantify reliability cost savings, increased production and/or equipment life cycle costs.
- Identify production losses and abnormal high maintenance cost assets, and find ways to reduce those losses or high costs.
- Implement approved reliability improvement initiatives/models.
- Develop, investigate and implement enhancements to the reliability centered maintenance and reliability centered spares system at plant level.
- Provide input in preparation of the section’s annual operational budget, by forecasting costs and monitor expenditure and cash flow on a regular basis against approved budget parameters.
Requirements
Requirements and experience:
- BTech / Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 3 years’ work experience.
- Mining / Processing plant environment experience will be a distinct advantage.
- Exposure in structural and chemical tank repairs and EMV’s.
- Proven experience in multi-disciplinary continuous improvement projects and exposure to research and development work into new / improved project.
- Exposure in process optimization, equipment life extension and improvement of equipment reliability.
- Good track record of contract & contractor coordination
- Registration with Engineering Council of Namibia or equivalent professional body will be an added advantage.
- Valid Code B/BE Driver’s License.
