Key Performance Areas:
- Provide input, monitor and review mining (Drill & Blast and Load & Haul) procedures / standards and adherence thereof.
- Complete short-term mine plans in a timely manner in order to optimize efficiencies in mining operations.
- Liaise and integrate with Mine Maintenance Planning to optimize reliability schedules and Processing Plant in order to achieve production targets.
- Contribute to the preparation and update of short, medium and long-term mining schedules to ensure alignment with LOM objectives and targets.
- Communicate and develop short- term mine plans to deliver long-term planning outcomes.
- Compile weekly and monthly plan versus actual reports and forecasts and use this information in quarterly updates of the short-term schedules.
- Design drilling parameters e.g. blasthole diameters, sub-drill, angled holes, drill pattern and continually research new methods to improving these.
- Analyse mining KPI’s such as productivity, availability and use of availability to identify bottlenecks and recommend efficiency improvements in the operation.
- Monitor execution of the mining plans through compliance tracking, data analysis and feeding back to operations for continuous improvement.
- Design and review blasting parameters e.g. burden, spacing, powder factor, stemming height to ensure optimum fragmentation of the ground.
- Compile, sign and communicate the official weekly blasting schedule.
- Evaluate and model different hauling configurations and ramp accesses to optimize cycle times and hauling efficiency.
- Use and validate Fleet Management System (FMS) data to verify production performance and reconcile plan vs. actual.
Requirements
Requirements and experience:
- BSc / B. Tech degree in Mining Engineering.
- Minimum of 3 years’ working experience in open pit mining environment, of which at least 2 years is in Mine Planning.
