Job Description
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To coordinate, monitor, optimize and research safe, efficient mining processes (plan and design) in order to achieve mine production targets for continuous improvement in mining and processing efficiencies.
Key Performance Areas:
- Provide input into, monitor, and review mining procedures and standards, ensuring adherence.
- Ensure all technical processes comply with approved standards.
- Develop short-term mine plans and technical plans, ensuring proper implementation.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance mining productivity and efficiency.
- Monitor Fleet Management system health and data integrity to ensure operational continuity.
- Ensure all technical plans are approved and uploaded into Fleet Management systems.
- Conduct highwall inspections with the geotechnical team and implement corrective actions.
- Analyse mining process performance and prepare relevant reports.
- Use fleet data, production reports, and analytics to identify improvement opportunities.
- Provide guidance on safe mine planning, including layout and activity sequencing.
- Implement best practice standards to ensure safety and quality across operations.
- Contribute to the development of the mining budget.
Requirements and experience:
- BSc or B.Tech degree in Mining Engineering.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in an open pit mining environment.
- Open Pit Blasting Certificate will be an added advantage.
- Registration with the Engineering Council of Namibia or equivalent will be advantageous.
- Valid Code B/BE driver’s license.
