Job Description

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To coordinate, monitor, optimize and research safe, efficient mining processes (plan and design) in order to achieve mine production targets for continuous improvement in mining and processing efficiencies.

 

Key Performance Areas:

  • Provide input into, monitor, and review mining procedures and standards, ensuring adherence.
  • Ensure all technical processes comply with approved standards.
  • Develop short-term mine plans and technical plans, ensuring proper implementation.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance mining productivity and efficiency.
  • Monitor Fleet Management system health and data integrity to ensure operational continuity.
  • Ensure all technical plans are approved and uploaded into Fleet Management systems.
  • Conduct highwall inspections with the geotechnical team and implement corrective actions.
  • Analyse mining process performance and prepare relevant reports.
  • Use fleet data, production reports, and analytics to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Provide guidance on safe mine planning, including layout and activity sequencing.
  • Implement best practice standards to ensure safety and quality across operations.
  • Contribute to the development of the mining budget.

Requirements and experience:

  • BSc or B.Tech degree in Mining Engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in an open pit mining environment.
  • Open Pit Blasting Certificate will be an added advantage.
  • Registration with the Engineering Council of Namibia or equivalent will be advantageous.
  • Valid Code B/BE driver’s license.
