Deep Yellow Limited (DYL), through its wholly‑owned Namibian subsidiary Reptile Uranium Namibia (Pty) Ltd (RUN), is seeking a highly capable and motivated Environmental Officer to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal as we transition from exploration into development and mine production phases.

About the Role

We are seeking a competent and motivated Environmental Officer who will drive the implementation of the Environmental Management Plan and environmental standards. The role provides technical advice to stakeholders, focusing on environmental impacts and implementing effective controls to prevent or mitigate hazards and ensure environmental protection.


Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all contractors have a bespoke version of the Construction Environment Management Plan.
  • Develop action plans for the implementation of the Environment Management Plan and track progress.
  • Facilitate Environmental Risk Assessments and Compliance Inspections.
  • Deliver environmental training and awareness.
  • Conduct data analysis and reporting.
  • Lead environmental incident investigations and improvement activities.
  • Adhere to all company SHER requirements, policies, and regulatory standards.
  • Report incidents promptly and participate in safety training activities.
  • Wear and enforce the use of prescribed personal protective equipment.
  • Maintain clean and safe work areas and ensure subordinates comply with workplace safety standards.

Job Specifications

  • Grade 12 with a Degree in Environmental Management or Natural Sciences (NQF Level 7/8).
  • Valid Code 08 driver’s licence.
  • Minimum 5–7 years’ experience as an Environmental Officer in a major construction, engineering, or mining environment.
  • Strong knowledge and application of Environmental Standards and Management Systems (ISO 14001).
  • Good understanding of biodiversity in desert environments.
  • Proven problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Ability to conduct training on regulatory and statutory requirements.
  • Good coordination and networking skills.
  • Strong planning and organizing abilities.
  • Adept at using technology to solve environmental challenges.
