Namib Poultry (Pty) Ltd is a fully integrated broiler production operation established in 2012 and situated 30 km north of Windhoek on the A1 Highway on the farm Klein Okapuka. PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Responsible for the delivery of goods to clients in Windhoek and surrounding areas, ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of products from the depot to the designated locations.
KEY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Vehicle Operations
- Ensure the roadworthiness of the heavy vehicle.
- Perform mechanical checks on the vehicle, including the cooling unit, to ensure it is in sound working condition.
- Complete maintenance tasks before each trip and submit a comprehensive vehicle inspection report.
• Compliance
- Display licenses and permits according to traffic rules.
- Adhere to Namibia traffic rules and regulations, with disciplinary actions for any violations.
- Constantly supervise the truck after it has left the depot and report any accidents, mechanical problems, or abnormalities to management.
• Documentation and Reporting
- Complete fuel slips accurately and return them after each trip.
- Ensure that the invoice mass and weighbridge mass correspond and do not exceed prescribed maximum load mass.
- Report all relevant information regarding vehicle servicing and license renewal.
• Loading and Unloading
- Be present during the loading process to plan the loading of products according to the delivery route and minimize damages.
- Check that the products loaded correspond to picking slip descriptions and quantities.
- Secure the load after loading and before departing from the depot.
• Customer Interaction
- Ensure offloading according to the invoice, verifying correct products and quantities.
- Possess PODs for goods delivered after each delivery.
- Note any shortages, damages, or wrong deliveries on the delivery note, signed by the customer’s Receiving Officer and the driver.
• Pallet Management
- Ensure the pallet book is signed off at the customer, recording any missing pallets.
- Note any extra pallets returned by a customer.
- Handle goods returned by a customer, ensuring they are accompanied by the customer’s claim.
• Supervision and Teamwork
- Supervise general Workers on the truck and back at the depot.
- Assist general Workers with load/offloading when necessary.
- Collaborate with general Workers in picking and loading available trucks.
• Communication and Availability
- Ensure availability on your cell phone at all times.
- Contact the office if a customer declines a delivery, waiting for instructions from management before returning to the depot.
• General Responsibilities
- Comply with company policies and procedures.
- Perform additional ad hoc tasks as requested by management to support the overall operation of the distribution department.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Grade 10 (NQF2) with 3 (three) years’ experience in Heavy vehicle driving.
• Proficient in written and spoken English.
• Valid code CE driver’s License.
• Valid GP / PDP
• Valid Namibian Passport
• Willingness to work rotating shifts, overtime and after hours, standby including weekends and Public
Holidays when/if required.
• Namibian citizen.
