Job Description

To support the implementation, maintenance, and operational execution of FirstRand Namibia’s information security programme by assisting with security administration, monitoring, documentation, and control enforcement. The role supports the Information Security Officer in maintaining information security policies, baseline standards, and regulatory compliance, while contributing to day-to-day security operations, reporting, and incident support.

 

Are you someone who can:

  • Support IT Security leaders in participating in the FirstRand Bank Information Risk Awareness Programme and ensure staff are aware of information security risks.
  • Cultivate and manage professional relationships with stakeholders including end-users, SMEs, project managers, and senior staff by providing expert IT security advice.
  • Deliver exceptional service through proactive, innovative, and appropriate security solutions.
  • Comply with and implement IT Information Security processes and procedures in line with legislative and audit requirements.
  • Assist with the administration and implementation of control mechanisms to monitor the status of information security.
  • Ensure all Information Security analysis and research are properly captured, recorded, and reported for corrective action.
  • Assist in identifying, defining, and maintaining information security policies and baseline standards.
  • Ensure operating objectives and performance standards are understood and followed by management and staff.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging information systems security technologies.
  • Continuously develop personal skills and competencies within the information security field.

You will be an ideal candidate if you:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in information security, network security, or system administration.
  • Relevant professional certifications such as Security+, CISSP, GIAC, or GSEC will be advantageous.

Core Competencies

  • Strong technical understanding of operating systems, network architecture, and cybersecurity tools.
  • Experience with SIEM platforms, firewalls, endpoint protection, and access control systems.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
