Job Description
Vacancies exist for 2x Laboratory Technicians on a Fixed-Term Contract at the Laboratory section within the Processing department. The successful candidate will be required to have an in -depth knowledge in all preparations and analysis work carried out in the laboratories. He/she will be required to contribute to the safe and continuous operations of the laboratories by performing specific sampling of plant samples, analysis, applying the quality control systems and performing day-to-day work to provide accurate results to operations. He/she will be required to work shifts from time to time.
Key Performance Areas:
- Actively participates in creating a healthy and safe working environment, e.g., by participating in safety meetings, safety talks, and safety inspections.
- Carrying out sample collection, preparation, and inspection of sampling equipment.
- Conduct analyses and test work for mining and process samples.
- Carry out basic maintenance and calibration of equipment.
- Evaluate and report results accurately.
- Fulfilling duties as part of the team.
- Carry out ad hoc operational requirements as assigned.
Requirements and experience:
- Grade 12 with E-symbol in English.
- National Diploma in Chemistry is an added advantage.
- Two years’ experience in mining/chemical laboratory operations.
- Valid Code BE driver’s licence.
- Police certificate of conduct not older than six months (a record will not automatically disqualify candidates).
