Deep Yellow Limited (DYL), through its wholly-owned Namibian subsidiary Reptile Uranium Namibia (Pty) Ltd (RUN), is seeking highly capable and motivated Safety Officers to join our dynamic construction management team.

If you are a results‑driven Safety Officer with a strong background in implementing and managing Integrated Management Systems (ISO 45001) and a proven track record in developing and maintaining Serious Injury and Fatality (SIF) prevention programs, we want to hear from you. About the Roles

We are seeking competent and motivated Safety Officers to support safe site operations during the construction of our mine, with the possibility of transferring to Operations based on performance.

This position plays an integral role in ensuring that the Tumas Project complies with DYL policies, procedures, standards, industry best practices, and Namibian safety legislation. The Safety Officer will support the implementation of the Tumas Project Safety Management Plan and report directly to the Health and Safety Superintendent.


Key Responsibilities

Mining Construction

  • Monitor and enforce safety procedures on assigned construction areas.
  • Support site inductions, toolbox talks, and safety briefings.
  • Perform site inspections, identify hazards, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Drive the site SIF prevention program, including coaching on hazardous energies.
  • Ensure proper use of PPE and safe working practices.
  • Coordinate with site teams, subcontractors, and clients on safety matters.
  • Support incident reporting, investigation, action closure, and learning.

Job Specifications

  • Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, or related field.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in construction site or heavy industry safety operations.
  • Understanding of the application of HOP principles (advantageous).
  • Strong communication and reporting skills.
  • Valid Code 08 driver’s licence.
  • Proven ability to conduct Risk Assessments and Hazard Identification.
  • Ability to apply Incident Investigation (ICAM) and Root Cause Analysis techniques (5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram, Fault Tree Analysis).
  • Technical knowledge of machinery safety, equipment, and processes (e.g., lockout/tagout, confined space entry, working at heights, hot work).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and safety data sheets (SDS).
  • Strong interpersonal and problem‑solving skills.
  • Fully computer literate, including proficiency with AI‑based applications.
  • Ability to plan, multi‑task, and work under pressure.
