Job Overview

Rosh Pinah Zinc, a leading mining company, is seeking a skilled Superintendent: Continuous Improvement to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in our operations.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Lead and implement continuous improvement and Lean initiatives to optimise operational performance, eliminate inefficiencies, improve productivity, reduce costs, and strengthen management operating systems and performance monitoring processes.
  • Partner with leaders and employees across the business to embed a culture of continuous improvement through coaching, mentoring, training, and facilitating cross-functional improvement initiatives.
  • Identify, measure, and track improvement opportunities and business benefits, monitor key performance indicators, report progress to management, and ensure improvements are sustained over the long term.
  • Support the successful implementation of new systems, processes, equipment, and operational changes by developing procedures, managing risks, and leading initiatives that enhance safety, reliability, productivity, and workforce capability.
  • Ensure every improvement is assessed for SHEQ risk before implementation, with updated procedures, training and risk assessments as closure criteria.
  • Prepare and manage the OPEX and CAPEX budgets for the CI department.
  • Ensure compliance with SHE requirements, company standards, and statutory regulations.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Process/Operations Management or Data/Information Systems (NQF: 8) or equivalent.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification is essential.
  • Black Belt certification or working towards obtaining one is advantageous.
  • Change management (Prosci/ADKAR) and project management (PMP/PRINCE2) certification, and facilitation or train-the-trainer accreditation is advantageous.
  • A minimum of 8 years’ operational experience in mining or mineral processing, of which at least 5 years in a continuous improvement, business improvement or operational excellence role.
  • Demonstrated track record of financially quantified benefits, evidenced by specific initiatives, baselines and banked value validated with Finance.
  • Proven experience designing and embedding a management operating system, daily and weekly performance dialogue and visual management and supervising a small technical or specialist team.
  • Proven experience leading improvement projects end to end using DMAIC, Kaizen, value stream mapping, constraint analysis and formal root cause analysis.
  • Advanced computer literacy: Microsoft Office, Power BI, process modelling tools (Visio or equivalent) and ERP systems. SQL or Python is advantageous.
  • Code B driver’s license
  • Valid Police Clearance Certificate (not older than 6 months)
