Job Description

Unik Construction Engineering has grown from a small building contractor into a competitive large corporation with 20 years’ steadfast development, Established in 1996 in Botswana, the company has established branches in Lesotho, Zambia, Namibia and South Africa in 2007, 2009 and 2013 respectively. Unik Construction Engineering Namibia (Pty) Ltd, registered in 2013, located at 26 Rensburger Street, Lafrenz, Windhoek, specializes in larger scale projects ranging from road and bridge construction, water and sewer services, residential, commercial, industrial buildings and infrastructure development.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate all road surfacing activities on site.
  • Lead and manage labour, plant operators, and subcontractors.
  • Oversee placement of asphalt, chip seal, or other surfacing layers.
  • Ensure correct levels, thickness, camber, and compaction are achieved.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings and ensure accurate execution.
  • Monitor daily productivity and ensure work is completed on schedule.
  • Coordinate plant and equipment, including pavers, rollers, and bitumen distributors.
  • Ensure proper temperature control and handling of surfacing materials.
  • Enforce health and safety standards and conduct toolbox talks.
  • Inspect work quality and ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Liaise with site engineers, laboratories, and project management teams.
  • Manage materials efficiently and minimize wastage.
  • Report daily progress, delays, and site issues.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum 5–8 years’ experience in civil construction.
  • At least 3–5 years’ experience in a foreman or supervisory role.
  • Proven experience in road surfacing (asphalt, chip seal, or similar works).
  • National Certificate or Diploma in Civil Engineering (advantageous).
  • Trade-related qualification (preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of surfacing methods and materials.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
  • Understanding of levels, compaction, and layer thickness control.
  • Good leadership and communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.
