Position: Surveillance Officer C4
Duty Station: Walvis Bay


Role Details

Primary Purpose of the Position

To maintain the security and safety of NAMDOCK’s facilities and assets through vigilant surveillance and prompt reporting of any suspicious activities or incidents.


Key Responsibilities

1. Surveillance Monitoring and Reporting

  • Monitor CCTV and surveillance systems to detect and prevent security breaches.
  • Record, investigate, and report incidents in line with organizational procedures.

2. Planning and Administration

  • Maintain accurate security records and reports.
  • Support the development and implementation of security procedures.

3. Emergency Response

  • Respond promptly to alarms, emergencies, and security-related incidents.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external authorities when required.

4. Security and Risk Assessments

  • Conduct routine inspections and risk assessments of facilities.
  • Identify vulnerabilities and recommend corrective actions.

5. ISPS Code Maintenance and Monitoring

  • Ensure compliance with the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code.
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining ISPS standards.

6. Crew and Access Control Management

  • Manage access control systems and verify authorization of personnel and visitors.
  • Supervise crew-related security processes.

7. Crowd Management and Unrest Control

  • Maintain order during high-risk situations or emergencies.
  • Apply appropriate security protocols to manage disturbances.

Requirements

Qualifications and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Security Surveillance or related qualification (NQF Level 7).
  • ISPS Certification.
  • Course in Conducting Security Investigations.
  • CCTV Operator License/Certificate (added advantage).

Experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in CCTV control room operations, reporting, and surveillance systems.
  • At least three (3) years in a supervisory or team leader role.

Technical Competencies

  • CCTV and surveillance systems expertise.
  • Security incident investigation and report writing.
  • Security auditing and risk assessment.

Skills and Attributes

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • High level of attention to detail and situational awareness.

Other Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s Licence (Code B).
