Job Description:

In this role you will, oversee all aspects of vehicle, plant, and general maintenance to ensure the fleet operates safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. You’ll manage the workshop team, monitor budgets and stock, liaise with management on repairs, and maintain strict controls, compliance, and service excellence across all operations.

  • Manage and coordinate all vehicle, plant, and generator servicing and maintenance
  • Conduct regular inspections and ensure high standards of workmanship
  • Oversee vehicle and plant servicing schedules, fleet updates, inspections, and renewals of all legal documents
  • Test and drive vehicles post-service to confirm quality and performance
  • Minimise downtime and maximise workshop efficiency
  • Monitor and report on fleet condition, costs, and operational improvements
  • Liaise with management on major repairs, delays, and cost implications
  • Oversee workshop staff performance, training, and daily operations
  • Maintain accurate maintenance, stock, and fuel usage records
  • Ensure all vehicles are licensed, roadworthy, and compliant with regulations
  • Manage ordering, stock levels, and security of spares and parts
  • Control workshop budgets, expenses, and monthly reporting to finance
  • Implement and uphold safety, health, and housekeeping standards
  • Support recruitment, induction, and performance reviews for workshop staff
  • Promote teamwork, communication, and continuous development within the department
  • Uphold professionalism and service excellence consistent with company standards

 

Experience Required:  

  • Minimum five years’ hands-on experience in a mechanical workshop
  • At least three years’ management or supervisory experience
  • Experience in a luxury remote lodge would be highly beneficial
  • Must have the legal right to live and work in Namibia
  • Formal mechanical qualification with completed trade test essential
  • Strong communicator with guests, colleagues, and stakeholders
  • Proven leadership ability with confidence to guide and correct where needed
  • Demonstrates initiative, integrity, and a proactive approach to work
  • Solid knowledge of hospitality operations, local environment, and surrounding communities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, with clear written and spoken English.
  • Energetic, hardworking, and motivated to streamline operations and uphold high service standards
