Company Introduction

Unitrans Mining has exciting opportunities for experienced BELL B18 ADT Water Truck Operators to join its operation at Hope & Gorob Mine in Namibia.

The successful candidates will be responsible for operating water trucks safely and efficiently to support dust suppression, road maintenance, and site operational requirements.


Role Purpose

The BELL B18 ADT Water Truck Operator will be responsible for safely operating a water truck to distribute water across haul roads, work areas, and designated site locations.

The role supports safe mining operations by assisting with dust control, road conditions, and general site safety.


Key Responsibilities

1. Water Truck Operation

  • Safely operate the BELL B18 ADT Water Truck
  • Conduct water spraying for dust suppression on haul roads and operational areas
  • Support road maintenance and safe traffic movement on site
  • Refill and operate water systems according to site procedures

2. Inspections & Reporting

  • Conduct daily pre-start and machine inspections
  • Report defects, leaks, water system faults, damages, or unsafe conditions timeously
  • Maintain accurate inspection sheets and operational records

3. Safety & Compliance

  • Adhere strictly to company policies, procedures, safety regulations, and site rules
  • Operate safely around mobile equipment, pedestrians, and active mining areas
  • Follow all instructions from supervisors and site management

4. Housekeeping & Equipment Care

  • Maintain good housekeeping of the vehicle and work area
  • Keep equipment clean, safe, and ready for use
  • Report unsafe road conditions or operational hazards immediately

5. Operational Support

  • Assist with ad hoc responsibilities as and when required
  • Support production and road maintenance teams when needed
  • Be willing to work shifts, weekends, overtime, and public holidays when required

Minimum Requirements

  • Namibian ID
  • Grade 12 or NQF Level 4
  • Valid driver’s license, where applicable
  • Valid competency certificate for BELL B18 ADT Water Truck or relevant ADT/water truck equipment
  • Minimum of 2–3 years’ proven experience operating water trucks or articulated dump trucks in a mining environment
  • Contactable references
  • Must be medically fit
  • Must have sober habits
  • Must be willing to work shifts, weekends, overtime, and public holidays

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong water truck or ADT operating skills
  • Good awareness of haul road safety and dust suppression requirements
  • Ability to identify equipment defects and unsafe conditions
  • Reliable, punctual, and safety conscious
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
