About the Role

RMB Namibia is seeking a highly skilled and commercially minded Banking & Finance Lawyer to support the Investment Banking team across a broad range of transactional, regulatory, and advisory matters. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in structuring, negotiating, and executing complex financial transactions while ensuring legal and regulatory compliance across the bank’s activities in Namibia and the broader region.

This role requires a proactive, solutions‑driven legal professional who can balance technical excellence with sound commercial judgment.

Are you someone who can:

  • Lead and advise on complex financing transactions, including corporate lending, acquisition finance, project finance, leveraged finance, asset‑backed lending, and other structured finance deals
  • Draft, review, and negotiate high‑quality financing agreements and security documentation to support seamless execution
  • Provide end‑to‑end legal support throughout deal origination, structuring, execution, and closing
  • Guide the Investment Banking team on regulatory matters, ensuring compliance with all applicable Namibian banking, finance, and financial markets regulations
  • Stay ahead of regulatory developments that may impact the bank’s products, structures, and transactions
  • Collaborate with Compliance, Risk, and other partners to maintain strong governance and alignment with internal standards
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate legal risks associated with investment banking products and transactions
  • Develop legal frameworks, standard documentation, and processes to improve operational efficiency and ensure compliant execution
  • Build strong relationships with transactors, product specialists, credit, risk, finance, and external stakeholders, ensuring solutions that are both legally sound and commercially viable
  • Engage effectively with external counsel, regulators, and transaction counterparties as needed
  • Contribute strategically to product development and innovation, advising on new financing structures and market initiatives
  • Support internal capability building through training on legal, regulatory, and documentation matters

You will be an ideal candidate if you:

  • Hold an LLB Degree (an LLM will be considered an advantage)
  • Are admitted as a Legal Practitioner in Namibia, or meet the eligibility requirements for admission
  • Bring 4–7+ years’ post‑articles experience in banking and finance law, ideally gained within a leading law firm or reputable financial institution
  • Have strong expertise in drafting and negotiating financing and security documentation, with a focus on high‑quality, commercially aligned outputs
  • Possess a solid understanding of Namibian financial regulation, including cross‑border transactional considerations and their practical application

  • Excellent technical legal drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance risk and business objectives.
  • Ability to manage multiple transactions simultaneously under tight timelines.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
