Fixed Term Contract: 2 Months
(Junior Exploration geologist x2)
Uis Tin Mining Company Pty Ltd an equal opportunity employer, situated in the Erongo region, hereby invites competent & suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Junior Exploration geologist. The position reports to the Exploration Geologist.
Key responsibilities:
- Ensure health & safety standards on site are adhered to.
- Perform geological mapping, logging and create cross-sections.
- Monitor and supervise drilling activities and all exploration operations on sites.
- Sampling and supervise processing of core and samples to be sent to the laboratory.
- Collect, capture and process geological data.
- Record and label samples sent to laboratory.
- Supervise exploration field assistants.
- Establish field camps where applicable.
- Control and monitor all stores and equipment on site.
- Give brief daily reports on exploration and site activities.
- Rehabilitation of exploration sites.
- Ensure activities are documented and monitored before, during and after exploration activities are undertaken.
Safety, Health and Environmental
- Report accidents, incidents and near misses.
- Comply with the company’s SHER regulations.
- Partake in risk assessments when performing routine tasks.
- Assist with incident investigations.
- Ensure housekeeping in area of responsibility.
Key requirements:
- Grade 12 certificate.
- A recognized Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology.
- 1 year of working experience, mining experience will be advantageous.
- Knowledge of mining software will be an advantage.
- Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Valid code BE driver’s licence.
- A valid police clearance certificate, not older than 6 months.
