Job Summary

The Elegant Collection is looking for a hands-on, reliable and experienced Assistant Lodge Manager that will be focusing on Maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate maintenance staff and outside contractors.
  • Understand Health & Safety procedures.
  • Control stock, including maintenance tools, spare parts, equipment and materials.
  • Obtain quotations, monitor maintenance expenses and assist with budgeting and cost control.
  • Assist with general lodge operations when required.
  • Maintain good guest relations and communication skills.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership, organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Be efficient literate with knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Work independently, prioritise tasks and perform well under pressure.
  • Be hands-on and willing to assist with physical maintenance work when required.
  • Have sober and honest habits.
  • Have a valid driver’s licence; a PDP would be an advantage.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in lodge/hospitality maintenance or a similar position.
  • Strong general maintenance and technical skills.
  • Experience with plumbing, electrical work, building repairs and general property maintenance.
  • Knowledge of water systems, pumps, solar systems and generators would be an advantage.
  • Good knowledge and practical experience in vehicle maintenance and basic mechanical repairs.
  • Ability to perform routine vehicle inspections, identify mechanical problems and arrange repairs or servicing when required.
  • Responsible for monitoring vehicle service schedules, tyres, batteries and general vehicle condition.
  • Experience with 4×4 vehicles and diesel engines would be an advantage.
  • Ability to identify maintenance problems and carry out or coordinate repairs efficiently.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance planning for buildings, equipment and vehicles.
  • Ability to supervise and coordinate maintenance staff and outside contractors.
