Job Description
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To accurately identify, orient, mark, measure, record and handle diamond drill core from underground drilling programmes while maintaining traceable and well-organised core records.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Accurately orient, identify, mark, measure and sequence diamond drill core.
- Ensure core boxes are correctly labelled and organised.
- Record drill depths, runs, recovery and core information accurately.
- Support Geologists with core logging and related activities.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date core records.
- Ensure drill core is properly handled, preserved and traceable.
- Identify and report discrepancies, missing information or damaged core.
- Comply with HSE requirements and maintain a safe core handling environment.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Grade 10 with Certificate or training in Geology, Geology Assistant, Core Logging or Mining advantageous.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in diamond drilling, core handling, geology assistance or underground mining.
- Previous experience working with diamond drill core will be highly advantageous.
- Experience with underground or surface diamond drilling will be advantageous.
- Experience measuring core recovery and drill-hole intervals will be advantageous.
