We are looking for a motivated Drilling Assistant to join our Technical Services team.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To provide operational support to Diamond and Cover Drilling teams during underground drilling activities, including equipment handling, core handling, housekeeping and general drilling support.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist the Drill Operator with drilling activities.
• Assist with drill setup, movement and dismantling.
• Handle drilling tools, rods and related equipment.
• Assist with safe handling and movement of drill core.
• Assist with loading, unloading and storage of drilling materials.
• Assist with basic equipment checks and cleaning.
• Maintain good housekeeping around drilling areas.
• Comply with HSE requirements and report hazards, incidents and unsafe conditions.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Grade 8 or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year’s experience in underground or surface drilling, mining or related activities.
• Relevant mining or drilling training will be advantageous.
• Previous diamond drilling or equipment-handling experience will be an advantage.
• Previous experience assisting drilling crews will be advantageous.
• Physically fit and able to perform manual work underground.
