A useful CV for jobs in Namibia gives employers a reliable summary of qualifications, experience, practical skills and references. It should be easy to read, consistent with supporting documents and adjusted to the vacancy without changing your history. A master CV plus a tailored application copy is the simplest system.
Check the vacancy requirements first
Use the original employer advert and mark mandatory education, experience, registration, licence, location and application documents. Official employment support is described by Namibia’s Directorate of Labour Market Services. For each vacancy, the advertising employer’s official notice remains the authority.
Do not rely on a cropped repost. Open the complete advert and note the closing date, reference number and submission address before editing your CV.
Present contact information safely
Place your full name, active phone number, professional email address and current town or region near the top. Check every character. A short profile can identify your profession, experience level and strongest relevant capability, but remove vague claims that are not supported later.
Do not put passwords, banking credentials or unnecessary identity-document numbers in an ordinary CV. Share copies of sensitive documents only when a verified employer’s process requires them.
Describe experience with dates and evidence
List recent roles with employer, title and accurate dates. Use concise points for responsibilities, tools, scale and results you can demonstrate. Practical training, internships, projects, volunteering and community roles can be relevant when clearly labelled.
Keep your dates consistent across your CV, application form and online profile. Never extend a role or change a title to appear eligible. If a gap needs explanation, use a brief truthful description.
Organise qualifications, skills and references
Name the qualification, institution and completion status. Include licences or professional registrations when relevant and current. List specific tools, machinery, systems, languages or methods rather than unexplained star ratings.
Ask referees before providing their contact details and follow the advert’s requested number or type. Keep certificates and reference documents in a secure folder so the correct copies can be supplied when requested.
Use a simple layout with standard headings and enough spacing. Export to the format requested by the employer and open the finished file on both a phone and computer. Check that page breaks do not separate a heading from its content and that scanned documents are upright and legible.
Tailoring should change emphasis, not facts. For a role requiring customer contact, bring relevant service experience forward. For a technical role, prioritise equipment, systems and procedures you have used. Keep a dated master CV so that employer names, dates and qualifications remain consistent across versions.
Before listing personal information beyond normal contact details, ask whether it is required for the application and whether the destination is verified. Legitimate screening may require documents at a later stage, but an initial CV should not expose banking credentials, passwords or unnecessary identity numbers.
Final application check
- The first page shows evidence relevant to the advertised role.
- Names, dates, qualifications and contacts are accurate.
- The layout is readable on mobile and desktop.
- The file name identifies you and the vacancy clearly.
- All requested attachments are included before the closing date.

This article provides general CV guidance. Employers and official vacancy notices control the requirements for individual applications.
Turn the checklist into a usable application
For a Windhoek customer-service role, make a short evidence table before editing. Copy one requirement into the left column and your own supporting example into the right. For instance, a practical-training or community-service example can be relevant if it is something you actually did. This is a planning example, not a current vacancy or a claim about an employer’s requirements.
| Advert requirement | My truthful evidence | Document to check |
|---|---|---|
| [Copy the exact requirement] | [Describe your action and context] | [CV entry, certificate or project] |
| [Copy the next requirement] | [State the actual dates or completion status] | [Relevant supporting record] |
Before sending, compare the completed table with the final CV, form and letter. Remove all sample text, check the receiving address again and keep a copy of what was submitted. A useful application is specific and consistent; it does not need to be inflated with unsupported claims.
