Government-vacancy reposts can be useful alerts, but Namibian job seekers should verify every opportunity at its official source before applying. A screenshot may exclude pages, attachments, reference numbers or corrected dates. The safest habit is to use the repost only to identify the vacancy, then locate the issuing ministry, office or agency’s original notice.

Trace the vacancy to the issuing institution

Identify the exact ministry, office, agency or public institution named in the advert. Visit its official website and look for a vacancies, opportunities, downloads or notices section. For example, the Ministry of Justice vacancies page is the appropriate source for vacancies issued by that ministry. The Directorate of Labour Market Services also describes official employment and job-seeker support.

Check that the institution’s domain and page are genuine. Do not trust a page merely because it copies a coat of arms or official-looking design. Compare the contact details with the institution’s main website and avoid shortened links when the full official address is available.

Download every page and attachment

Government vacancy notices may contain several posts or continue across pages. Save the complete document and any application form. Confirm the post title, grade or level if stated, duty station, requirements, duties, reference number, submission address and closing date. If a repost and official document disagree, use the official document and contact the issuing institution through its published channels when clarification is necessary.

Keep the original file unchanged for reference. Prepare your completed form, CV and supporting documents as separate clearly named files unless the advert asks for one combined document.

Apply to the exact post

Your CV should make the mandatory qualification and relevant experience easy to find. Use the correct reference number wherever the advert requires it. Do not send a general CV to an enquiry address if a separate submission address or platform is stated.

Check whether supporting documents are required at the first stage or later. Follow instructions about certification, signatures and forms. Never pay a social-media administrator or unofficial agent for guaranteed placement, interview access or an application form.

Treat the closing date as a delivery deadline

Allow time for scanning, certification, travel, postal delivery or connectivity. A message sent shortly before midnight may still be late if the advert specifies office hours or receipt at a physical address. Early submission also gives you time to detect a bounced email or unreadable attachment.

Save proof of submission and a copy of the exact application. If contacted for an interview, compare the caller’s details and location with the institution’s official contacts before sharing additional documents.

Verification checklist

  • The vacancy appears on the issuing institution’s official website or document.
  • You have the complete advert and all referenced attachments.
  • The title, location, reference and closing date are consistent.
  • The submission channel belongs to the issuing institution.
  • Your documents meet the advert without invented or altered information.

Keep one record for the next step

Save the advert, the documents used and the next action in one private folder. When the employer contacts you, compare its message with those records before sending anything else. This guide is practical preparation, not an announcement that a particular vacancy or programme is open.
