Key Responsibilities

  • Teach Mathematics to Junior Secondary learners aged 14 to 16.
  • Prepare learners for Cambridge assessments at IGCSE and AS & A Level.
  • Use technology and innovative teaching strategies.
  • Support learners who are struggling with compassion and patience.

Requirements

  • A recognised teaching qualification with Mathematics as a teaching subject – for example, a Bachelor of Education, or a relevant degree with a professional teaching qualification such as PGDE, PGCE or HED.
  • Strong knowledge of the Cambridge curriculum, particularly Cambridge Lower Secondary and IGCSE Mathematics; knowledge of Cambridge AS & A Level Mathematics would be an advantage.
  • A particular interest in, and the ability to teach, Junior Secondary learners aged 14 to 16.
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
  • Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to differentiate instruction for learners with differing abilities and needs.
  • Confidence in using technology and a forward-thinking, curious approach to new ideas, educational technology and teaching strategies.
  • Patience and compassion when supporting learners who are struggling, together with a willingness to go the extra mile and a strong sense of integrity, professionalism and accountability.
  • Namibian citizenship or permanent residence, or eligibility to obtain a work permit for Namibia.
