Division: SHEQ (Husab Site)
Purpose of the Job
To support the HOD SHEQ in achieving and maintaining Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) excellence across Beifang operations. The role is responsible for assisting with the implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of SHEQ management systems and deputising for the HOD SHEQ when required.
Key Performance Areas
- Support the implementation and continuous improvement of SHEQ policies, systems and objectives.
- Assist with incident investigations, accident prevention programmes and risk management initiatives.
- Monitor compliance with health, safety, environmental, quality and statutory requirements.
- Support the administration, maintenance and auditing of the SHEQ Management System.
- Assist with SHEQ budgeting, resource management and departmental administration.
- Analyse SHEQ performance data and prepare reports and recommendations for management.
- Lead, mentor and develop SHEQ team members while promoting a strong safety culture.
- Deputise for the HOD SHEQ and liaise with internal departments, clients and regulatory authorities when required.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications:
- Diploma or Degree in Health, Safety Management or Environmental Science
- Valid Code B / BE Driver’s Licence
Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years’ Health & Safety / Risk Management experience
- At least 3 years’ experience in a senior management role
- Safety management and compliance monitoring experience, preferably in an open-pit mining environment
- Experience with ISO 14001, Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems and SHEQ auditing will be an added advantage
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong knowledge of occupational health, safety and environmental legislation
- Experience in risk management, compliance monitoring and incident investigation
- Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Strong analytical, reporting and organisational abilities
- Ability to coach, mentor and develop teams while promoting a positive safety culture
- Proficiency in SHEQ management systems, auditing and continuous improvement practices
