NEW HORIZON COPPER (PTY) LTD is committed to operating safely, responsibly and efficiently while developing Namibia’s copper resources to create long-term value for our people, communities and the country. We are looking for a motivated Engineer – Electrical to join our Engineering / Projects team.
Purpose of the Job
To plan, design, execute and complete electrical aspects of engineering and maintenance, ensuring electrical systems are designed and installed according to standards, specifications and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee electrical maintenance and day-to-day activities from concept to commissioning.
- Prepare technical specifications, design documents and scopes of work for electrical systems.
- Coordinate with civil, mechanical and control systems teams.
- Review drawings, schematics, loop diagrams and data sheets.
- Manage contractors, vendors, maintenance teams and artisans.
- Support commissioning, start-up, loop checks, testing and troubleshooting.
- Monitor project schedules, budgets and resources for electrical components.
- Manage 11kV reticulation and substations.
Minimum Requirements
- Advanced Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 7-10 years’ experience in a process plant environment in Electrical Engineering.
- Sound knowledge of mechanical aspects of a process plant.
- Minimum 5 years’ managerial experience.
- 3-5 years’ experience in a project environment at senior level.
- Working knowledge of high, medium and low voltage power systems.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, EPLAN or similar design tools; MS Project knowledge advantageous.
