Job Description

TotalEnergies EP Namibia B.V. is seeking an experienced candidate to manage the company’s environmental aspects of its offshore oil and gas activities and associated onshore support activities in Namibia. The role will ensure that related environmental risks are effectively identified, managed and monitored, while supporting responsible operations and maintaining the company’s license to operate. The position covers the full environmental management cycle for these activities, from governance, permitting and impact assessment through to operational support, monitoring, assurance, reporting and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of environmental standards, management plans, permit conditions and applicable regulatory requirements across the company’s activities in Namibia.
  • Define, coordinate and oversee environmental studies, baseline assessments, environmental and social impact assessments, environmental clearance certificate applications and related permitting activities.
  • Provide environmental technical advice on biodiversity, waste, water, emissions, hazardous materials, pollution prevention and environmental impact management.
  • Manage environmental monitoring, data quality control, key performance indicator development, reporting, trend analysis and documentation to demonstrate compliance and performance improvement.
  • Support oil spill contingency planning, environmental incident management, inspections, audits, assurance reviews and corrective action follow-up.
  • Lead, coach and develop the Environment and Sustainability team, while representing the company with external stakeholders on environmental matters, as required.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or another engineering discipline with significant environmental experience.
  • Minimum 15 years’ relevant experience in environmental management and sustainability in upstream oil and gas activities, including significant exposure to offshore operations and associated onshore support activities.
  • Demonstrated experience in offshore oil and gas environmental permitting, environmental and social impact assessment processes, environmental clearance certificate processes, environmental base-line studies, regulatory compliance, audits, environmental risk management and implementation of environmental management plans.
  • Strong knowledge of biodiversity management, Biodiversity Action Plan development, management of oil and gas wastes, water, emissions, hazardous materials, pollution prevention and oil spill contingency planning.
  • Experience in environmental data management for offshore oil and gas activities; key performance indicator development, reporting, trend analysis, quality control of contractor deliverables and preparation of performance reports for management review.
  • ISO 14001 expertise required, with knowledge of environmental management systems and the ability to deploy practical assurance tools across projects, operations and contractors.
  • Strong leadership, communication, analytical thinking, autonomy, adaptability and coaching skills, with excellent command of written and spoken English and willingness to travel regularly within Namibia for site visits, including offshore.
