Laundry Attendant

Department: Site Management Reporting To: Laundry Supervisor Location: Mining Operations – Kombat, Namibia Employment Type: Permanent / Full‑Time Closing Date: 30 June 2026 @ 7:00PM

Position Purpose

The Laundry Attendant is responsible for the collection, sorting, washing, drying, ironing, folding, packaging, and distribution of employee clothing, bedding, linen, towels, and other laundry items. The role ensures services are performed efficiently, safely, and hygienically while maintaining quality standards and supporting employee welfare.

Key Accountabilities

Laundry Processing

• Collect laundry items from designated points.
• Sort by type, fabric, colour, and requirements.
• Operate washing machines, dryers, and ironing equipment.
• Wash, dry, fold, iron, and package items.
• Return laundry to correct employees or locations.
• Meet turnaround times.

Quality Assurance

• Inspect items before and after processing.
• Report damaged or unsuitable items.
• Ensure cleaning meets required standards.
• Minimize loss, damage, and cross‑contamination.
• Maintain professional service delivery.

Housekeeping and Hygiene

• Keep laundry facility clean and organized.
• Clean workstations and equipment regularly.
• Dispose of waste properly.
• Maintain hygiene standards and support infection control.

Equipment Operation

• Operate equipment safely and efficiently.
• Clean equipment routinely.
• Report faults and breakdowns.
• Follow manufacturer and company procedures.

Stock Handling

• Assist with receiving and storing consumables.
• Use detergents and chemicals responsibly.
• Report low stock levels.
• Assist with stock counts and inventory control.

Customer Service

• Interact professionally with employees.
• Resolve routine service queries.
• Maintain confidentiality of belongings.
• Promote positive service and satisfaction.

Health, Safety and Environmental Compliance

• Comply with safety, hygiene, and environmental standards.
• Wear PPE while working.
• Handle chemicals safely.
• Report unsafe conditions and incidents.
• Participate in safety meetings and training.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

• Grade 10 or Grade 12 preferred.

Experience

• Laundry, housekeeping, hospitality, cleaning, or camp services experience advantageous.
• Industrial laundry equipment experience beneficial but not essential.

Technical Skills

• Basic laundry operations.
• Safe chemical handling.
• Housekeeping and hygiene practices.
• Ability to operate laundry equipment.
• Basic recordkeeping.
