Job Summary

Barloworld represents world leading equipment brands manufactured for earthmoving and Marine applications in Southern Africa and the world, adding value to its Customers in the Mining, Construction, Marine and Energy industries. We provide technical and logistical support to our customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform repair and maintenance on various CAT equipment/machinery
  • Ensure safe and acceptable turnaround time on machine breakdown repairs
  • Perform scheduled interval maintenance on Caterpillar equipment according to required standards
  • Attend to in-field breakdowns and repairs on a standby basis
  • Conduct interval maintenance inspections as well as daily machine inspections using CAT inspection platforms
  • Safely perform in-field replacements of G.E.T (Ground Engaging Tools) and undercarriage components
  • Demonstrate sound knowledge of site safety procedures and Barloworld Equipment safety standards as well as adhere to site specific safety standards
  • Safely attend to after-hours breakdown repairs when required

Requirements

  • Gr.12, passed Qualified Diesel Mechanic with a National Vocational Certificate Lev 03 Diesel Mechanic or Trade Diploma (NOF3)
  • Must have a minimum of at least 5 years’ experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy or mining equipment
  • Must have a minimum 5 years’ experience working on track-type equipment, including repair and maintenance
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) is required
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet operational deadlines
  • Must be willing to work overtime, attend after-hours breakdowns, and work on a standby basis when required
  • Valid Overhead crane, forklift and rigging certification to be an advantage
  • Willingness to relocate to Oranjemund; accommodation in Oranjemund is an advantage
  • Must be in possession of a Code of Conduct not older than 6 Months
  • Must have a Valid Driver’s Licence – manual transmission
