Job Summary
Barloworld represents world leading equipment brands manufactured for earthmoving and Marine applications in Southern Africa and the world, adding value to its Customers in the Mining, Construction, Marine and Energy Industries. We provide technical and logistical support to our customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out scheduled and preventative maintenance and repairs as per OEM requirements
- Systematic and efficiently troubleshoot and diagnose machine systems problems and carry out repairs on earthmoving equipment at the workshop and on customer sites when required
- Compile accurate customer machine reports that include failure analysis (RCFA), condition, service, Machine Inspection Reports (MIR’s) and Technical Analysis reports (TA’s)
- Maintain professional image when representing BWE
- Work on specific customer sites as per customer requirements when required
- Ensure always complying to safe work practices
- Maintain and control Contamination Control Standards
- Responsible and Control of own admin (labour booking, service reports, part returns, expenses etc.)
- Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately maintained (ISO standards)
- Maintain effective customer service
- Perform all other ad-hoc duties as assigned by Superior
- Think analytically and have a mechanical and practical aptitude
Requirements
- Grade 12, passed
- Qualified in relevant trade (e.g. Diesel Mechanic / Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic)
- NQF 3
- Minimum 3 years post qualification experience on earthmoving machines (Minimum 2-3 years Caterpillar experience)
- Caterpillar Machine specific technical knowledge and skills (Caterpillar Certification an advantage)
- Sound interpersonal and communication skills
- Good technical report writing
- Good Computer Literacy (SIS 2.0, STW, VIMS & ET) knowledge, Microsoft Office package (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
- Applicable fundamental product knowledge (Caterpillar)
- Advance trouble shooting and problem-solving skills
- Basic business and financial understanding
- Good health and fit – meet Company and customer site compliance requirements
- Have an own basis tool (BWE standard toolbox kit)
- Prepared to travel when required
- Prepared to work away from home at short notice and undefined periods as business needs arise
- Understanding of OEM and supplier warranty systems, policies & procedures
- Required to work on Various customer sites on an Ad hoc
- Must be able to cope under pressure and varying workloads
- Ability to trouble shoot electrical, hydraulic and power train issues on CAT systems
- Must be in possession of a Code of Conduct not older than 6 Months
- Must have a Valid Driver’s License – manual transmission
