Security Supervisor

Department: Site Management / Security / Risk Management Reporting To: Site Manager Location: Mining Operations – Kombat, Namibia Employment Type: Permanent / Full‑Time Closing Date: 30 June 2026 @ 7:00PM

Position Purpose

The Security Supervisor provides oversight, coordination, and supervision of all mine site security operations. The role ensures contracted services are managed effectively, aligned with company standards, and compliant with access control, asset protection, incident reporting, and emergency response protocols.

Key Accountabilities

Security Operations Oversight

  • Supervise contracted security personnel and activities.
  • Ensure operations comply with company policies and contracts.
  • Monitor daily performance and conduct inspections.
  • Verify staffing levels and professional conduct.

Access Control Management

  • Oversee access systems for employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Monitor vehicle access and visitor management.
  • Investigate unauthorized access incidents.
  • Recommend improvements to access control.

Contractor Management

  • Act as liaison with security contractor.
  • Monitor compliance with SLAs.
  • Conduct audits and reviews.
  • Address deficiencies and verify training/licensing.

Asset Protection

  • Safeguard assets, infrastructure, and materials.
  • Monitor warehouses, fuel storage, explosives, and critical facilities.
  • Investigate theft, vandalism, fraud, and breaches.
  • Recommend preventative measures.

Patrol and Surveillance Management

  • Monitor patrols and surveillance effectiveness.
  • Conduct spot checks and inspections.
  • Ensure CCTV systems function properly.
  • Review footage during investigations.

Incident Management and Investigations

  • Lead investigations and document incidents.
  • Gather evidence, conduct interviews, and prepare reports.
  • Identify trends and recommend corrective actions.
  • Liaise with law enforcement when needed.

Emergency Response Coordination

  • Support emergency preparedness and response.
  • Coordinate security during incidents and evacuations.
  • Participate in drills and assist in crisis management.

Risk Management

  • Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability studies.
  • Identify threats and recommend mitigation.
  • Implement security improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor emerging risks.

Compliance and Governance

  • Ensure compliance with Namibian legislation and company policies.
  • Maintain records and documentation.
  • Conduct audits and assist with policy development.
  • Protect sensitive information.

Reporting and Administration

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
  • Monitor KPIs and incident statistics.
  • Maintain records of investigations, patrols, and contractor performance.
  • Submit recommendations for improvements.

Training and Awareness

  • Conduct security awareness training.
  • Promote compliance and vigilance.
  • Assist with inductions and toolbox talks.
  • Facilitate awareness campaigns.

Health, Safety and Environment

  • Comply with company HSE standards.
  • Promote safety and security culture.
  • Participate in risk assessments.
  • Report unsafe acts and incidents.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Grade 12 (NQF Level 4).
  • Diploma/Certificate in Security Management, Policing, Criminal Justice, Risk Management, or related field advantageous.

Experience

  • 5+ years in security operations.
  • 2+ years in supervisory/management role.
  • Mining, construction, or industrial experience preferred.
  • Outsourced security provider management advantageous.
