About the Role

BHL GROUP is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Accountant to oversee key accounting and financial reporting functions within the organisation.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and reviewing management accounts, managing month-end and year-end processes, monitoring fleet-related expenditure, and supporting budgeting and forecasting activities. The role will also oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash flow management, and audit processes while providing leadership and guidance to members of the finance team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review monthly management accounts and financial reports.
  • Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
  • Monitor and analyse fleet-related costs, including fuel, maintenance, and vehicle expenses.
  • Assist with the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable tax, VAT, financial reporting, and statutory requirements.
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
  • Monitor and support effective cash flow management.
  • Coordinate and support internal and external audit processes.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure appropriate financial controls are applied.
  • Identify financial trends, variances, and areas requiring management attention.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support finance team members.
  • Work closely with management and operational departments to support sound financial decision-making.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional accounting qualification such as CA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or equivalent will be an advantage.
  • Minimum 5 years’ relevant accounting experience, preferably within the transport, logistics, fleet management, or a related operational environment.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and accounting principles.
  • Sound understanding of tax, VAT, and financial compliance requirements.
  • Experience with management accounts and month-end and year-end reporting processes.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong working knowledge of ERP and accounting systems.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong leadership and team supervision skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail.
