About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and strategically focused Supply Chain Manager to take responsibility for the strategic and operational management of procurement, inventory, logistics, warehousing, supplier management, contract administration and supply chain governance.

The successful candidate will ensure that goods, services, spare parts, equipment and operational materials are sourced and delivered efficiently, cost-effectively and in accordance with company policies and applicable requirements.

The role will support operational readiness by maintaining reliable supply chains, improving procurement processes, managing supplier performance, optimising inventory and contributing to cost-saving initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement procurement and strategic sourcing strategies aligned with operational and financial objectives.
  • Lead tendering, quotation and supplier selection processes.
  • Negotiate commercial terms, pricing, service levels and supplier contracts.
  • Identify cost-saving and value-creation opportunities across procurement categories.
  • Oversee end-to-end supply chain activities, including sourcing, purchasing, transportation, warehousing and distribution.
  • Ensure the timely availability of operational spare parts, equipment, consumables and services.
  • Monitor supply chain risks and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Establish and maintain optimal inventory levels.
  • Manage inventory control systems, stock records and periodic stock counts.
  • Minimise stock obsolescence, excess inventory and stock-outs.
  • Implement effective warehouse management and materials-handling practices.
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with suppliers and service providers.
  • Conduct supplier evaluations and performance reviews.
  • Monitor contractual obligations and service level agreements.
  • Resolve supplier disputes and performance-related issues.
  • Prepare and manage supply chain budgets.
  • Monitor procurement expenditure and identify cost optimisation opportunities.
  • Support financial reporting, forecasting and audit requirements relating to procurement and inventory.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement regulations, company policies, governance requirements and ethical standards.
  • Lead, mentor and develop supply chain and procurement personnel.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and make effective use of technology and automation.

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor Degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Logistics, Business Administration, Commerce, Finance or a related field.
  • Professional qualification such as CIPS, APICS, CPSM, CILT or equivalent will be an added advantage.
  • Master’s Degree in a related field will be advantageous.
  • Minimum of 7 years experience in procurement, logistics, supply chain or inventory management.
  • At least 3 years experience in a management or supervisory role.
  • Experience within port operations, terminal operations, shipping, heavy equipment, engineering, logistics, mining, manufacturing or a related industrial environment is highly desirable.

Additional Screening Requirements
